MODELING INFRA-GRAVITY WAVES USING SCHISM-WWMIII BASED ON IMPROVED FORMULAS AND COUPLING APPROACH

The two-way coupled phase-resolved long wave (LW) model and phase-averaged spectrum (SW) is often employed to simulate the coastal flooding due superimposed astronomical high tides storm surges. This study suggests an alternative approach by proposing a new formula for radiation stresses (RS) term consider IG waves. becomes space-time dependent, it can reduce original form of RS that corresponding ‘surf-beats’ (Longuet-Higgins Stewart, 1964). programmed implemented in suite SCHISM-WWMIII (Zhang, et al., 2016), which used short groups induced bound free waves on variable water depth. good agreement between numerical results theoretical predictions (Liu, 1989) indicates coupling be accurately describe scattering waters.
